1. Accessibility requirements and applicable criteria
The requirements for digital accessibility are specified in Legislative Decree of May 27, 2022, No. 82 "Implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of April 17, 2019, on the accessibility requirements for products and services", which refers to the technical standard UNI EN 301549.
Specifically, website compliance must be assessed based on the criteria in chapters 9 "Web" and 10 "Non-web content", which refer to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level A+AA.
The four fundamental principles of digital accessibility, as expressed by WCAG 2.1, are:
- Perceivable – Content is presented in a clear and understandable way.
- Operable – The interface is easily navigable by all users.
- Understandable – Information and operations are intuitive and easy to interpret.
- Robust – The site is compatible with common assistive technologies.
Based on the UNI EN 301549 standard, which clearly outlines 50 success criteria for verifying website accessibility, technical analyses were carried out on the site’s content, including both textual and non-textual information, downloadable documents and forms, and forms of two-way interaction, such as digital form processing and the completion of authentication, identification, and payment processes.
Exclusions from application
Art. 1, paragraph 5 of Legislative Decree No. 82/2022 states that the provisions of the decree do not apply to the following website and mobile application contents:
- Pre-recorded time-based media published before June 28, 2025;
- Office file formats published before June 28, 2025;
- Online maps and mapping services, where essential information for navigation is provided in an accessible digital manner;
- Third-party content that is neither funded nor developed by the concerned economic operator nor under their control;
- Website and mobile app content considered archives, containing only content that has not been updated or edited after June 28, 2025.
2. General description of the service
This website targets the end consumer and offers a retail service for the Amish Supplies brand, providing the ability to discover, select, and purchase the company’s products. Users can explore the site using filters, add items to their cart or wishlist, register to access their personal area, and manage orders, returns, and personal details. In addition to the full purchase flow, the site also allows users to purchase a gift card, subscribe to the newsletter, consult customer service, and contact the company.
3. How the service works
The website is accessible from desktop, tablet, and smartphone devices through the main web browsers currently on the market and is available in Italian and English.
The website navigation is designed to be intuitive and consistent, through a main menu that provides direct access to the most relevant sections (women’s and men’s products and company information).
Below is a breakdown of how the main services offered on the site work:
- Browsing products: users can browse the various products offered by accessing the menu items divided between women and men and selecting the desired product type from the dropdown menu or by clicking the “denim” category.
- Adding products to favorites: users can save items by clicking the dedicated icon on the preview or “Add to wishlist” on the product page. All saved products appear in the “Wishlist” page, accessible from the menu, from where they can be added to the cart or removed.
- Making a purchase: users can buy products by selecting the desired item and clicking the “add to cart” button on the product page after selecting the size. To proceed to checkout, click the dedicated menu item at the top, proceed on the checkout screen, log in or enter personal data without registering, and select a payment method. Once all fields are completed, the order can be placed.
- Purchasing a gift card: users can purchase a gift card via the dedicated menu item. On the page, users fill out a short form and add the voucher to the cart. The checkout process continues as with any other product.
- Accessing the reserved area: users can register or log into their personal area by clicking the “account” menu item and entering the required information.
- Requesting a return: returns can be requested by both registered and unregistered users by accessing the “Request a return” section and completing the form. Registered users can also submit requests from their account area.
- Search navigation: users can search for a product by entering a keyword in the search bar at the top of the page (header).
- Filter navigation: within product pages, users can refine their search using filters for color, category, fit, and price range.
- Requesting information: users can contact the company via email, phone, or by filling out the form in the “Contact” page, accessible from the footer.
- Consulting customer service: users can view a FAQ page by clicking the customer service menu item in the header or footer.
- Newsletter subscription: users can subscribe to the newsletter by entering their email in the dedicated field on the homepage and clicking the “subscribe” button.
4. Fulfillment of accessibility requirements
To improve accessibility and user experience, FFW S.r.l. has integrated the UserWay PRO accessibility widget into the website covered by this statement. Its use by website users is completely free and helps improve compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
UserWay PRO offers several features for enhancing web accessibility and user experience, through a panel visible by clicking the widget icon or using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+U, as listed below.
- Screen reader: reads aloud all page content without the need to install an external reader.
- Dictionary: allows users to consult dictionaries without leaving the website. Essential for those with cognitive disabilities, non-native English speakers, and more.
- Larger text: increases text size on the screen with four levels of enlargement, making all site content more legible.
- Saturation: adjusts the site’s color intensity to high, low, or grayscale.
- Contrast: inverts website colors or switches between light and dark contrast modes.
- Smart contrast: ensures all site colors meet ADA standards for enhanced content visibility.
- Highlight links: emphasizes links, buttons, and interactive elements using high-contrast colors for easier identification and improved navigation.
- Pause animations: halts auto-moving or updating content, including animations or flashing elements that may cause seizures in at-risk individuals.
- Text spacing: adjusts text spacing and line height for dyslexic and visually impaired users, offering three levels of customization.
- Line height: increases line spacing for improved readability.
- Text alignment: aligns site text to the left, right, or center to create a more accessible reading experience.
- Dyslexia-friendly font: the “UserWay Dyslexia Friendly” font enhances readability for visitors with dyslexia.
- Large cursor: enlarges the standard cursor by 400% for better visibility and easier navigation.
- Tooltips: displays alternative text and ARIA labels on hover. Tooltips are highly visible and easy to read for visually impaired users.
- Page structure: quickly reveals page headings, landmarks, and links in a clear and navigable format to help users locate content faster.
In addition to user-activated features, the UserWay PRO widget can automatically detect many non-compliances and apply real-time corrections to what is displayed in the browser, without modifying the source code. This makes the website more accessible to all users, including those using assistive technologies.
Web content accessibility for users relying on assistive technologies—such as screen readers, alternative keyboards, or voice commands—is also supported through ARIA attributes, which help describe the role, state, and properties of user interface elements, communicate dynamic interactions (e.g., expandable menus, modals, sliders), and enable keyboard navigation of complex components.
